About Sara

 Hello & welcome!

I’m Sara Rauch, an author, editor, writing coach, and teacher based in Western Massachusetts.

A bit about my writing

My debut short story collection, What Shines from It, will be published by Alternating Current Press this year.

My prose has appeared in several literary magazines, including Split Lip, Gravel, So to Speak, WomenArts Quarterly, Hobart, and Luna Luna, as well as in the anthologies Dear John, I Love Jane: Women Write about Leaving Men for Women (Seal Press, 2010), Best Lesbian Romance 2014 (Cleis Press), and the forthcoming She’s Lost It (Post Mortem Press).

A bit about the work I do

A long-time book reviewer for Lambda Literary Review, I’ve also written reviews and author profiles for Bust, Bitch Media, Curve Magazine, The Rumpus, and more.

Way back forever ago, in my idealistic 20s, I took a job for an independent book publisher, and despite all the warnings that “no one reads anymore," my career has been built on stories.  I’ve worked as an independent editor for over a decade, and as a writing coach for the past few years. I hold an MFA in Fiction from Pacific University and I teach at Pioneer Valley Writers’ Workshop.

What’s next?

I’m always on the lookout for new books (especially by women & LGBTQ authors) to champion. And I’m currently taking on new editing and coaching clients.

As for my own writing, I’m always working on a zillion new things, including a novel.
